The Research 2.0 value proposition is based on a membership model with a low annual fee. This provides full access and a substantial degree of interactivity to support client needs. These membership services are provided in three major flavors aimed at our natural client base: institutional investors, venture capitalists and technology company managements.

Examples of the types of content and services for each segment are as follows:

All members have the ability to access all content, participate in ongoing research, redistribute our published materials internally, attend conference calls and interact with our analysts and experts.

  • Institutional Investors: We distill our long-term themes into specific stock conclusions and recommended lists overall and by sector. Investors receive alerts regarding changes in thematic direction or magnitude as well as specific opportunities in individual stocks. Our sector and company models are all available for download and use.

  • Venture Capitalists: The most valuable service we render to venture investors is our ability to help existing and potential portfolio companeis. The long-term nature of our thematic approach serves venture investing well. We also provide material and participate in VC portfolio company review meetings and presentations.

  • Company Managements: Most senior managers are more focused on running their businesses than overall market trends, competition, company positioning and investor sentiment. However the latter can be just as, if not more important, to ultimate company value. We focus on these areas for our corporate members and provide them with the information they need to be attuned and effective in these areas without a huge investment in time or energy. Our honest, outside perspective, helps company managements focus on the best opportunities to add value.

So far most advisory assignments have been very customized but starting in 2008 we are offering our services via a single annual master service agreement with a low set annual fee for the elements described above. Then special assignments, requests and tasks are delivered under the agreement for additional specfied charges.

This arrangement allows our clients to fully leverage our work and scale up or down it to fit their needs in an on-demand fashion. We think the small fixed fee with variable project costs is just the right fit for our target client base.
